NEWS RELEASE

Pawtucket, RI – June 10, 2013

The YMCA of Pawtucket announced its 2013 summer camp program offerings for the Pawtucket Family YMCA, located at 20 Summer Street, and Heritage Park Early Learning Center, located at 333 Roosevelt Avenue.  All camps highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle and are packed with fun, engaging activities for children of all ages.

The camps being offered at Heritage Park are: Camp Pioneers (ages 4-5 years old) and Camp Voyagers (ages 6-8 years old).  These camps are designed specifically for younger children and include a nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack.  Pioneers is a perfect transition from preschool to kindergarten and features exercise, songs, arts and crafts, and swimming.  Voyagers includes many of the features of Pioneers and also promotes creativity as well as individual strengths and talents.

The Pawtucket Family YMCA has many camps available that focus on a variety of childhood interests, including art, sports, exploring, and swimming.  Camp Dino-Mytes (ages 6-8) is designed to stimulate the imagination of children through arts and crafts, cooking, drama, games and daily swimming.  Sports Camp (ages 6-12) highlights age-appropriate athletic skills, teamwork and improving self-esteem.  Aim High Camp (ages 6-7 and ages 8-10) concentrates on retaining and advancing the work done during the school year, and also includes traditional camp activities.

Explorers Adventure Camp (ages 8-9) includes weekly field trips and teaches children social responsibility through various activities. Explorers I (ages 10-12) increases the number of field trips to four times per week, including such destinations as Water Country, Fenway Park and the Freedom Trail in Boston.

“We do our best to keep camps affordable,” said Sean Cassidy, the Family YMCA’s senior director.  “Financial assistance is available to families in need and all camps provide a safe, nurturing environment for children.”

Several other camps are also available, and all are air conditioned and feature swimming.  Campers receive a nutritious breakfast, a healthy snack and lunch provided by Subway.  Parents or guardians wishing to register a child for camp are encouraged to visit the Family YMCA at 20 Summer Street; go online at www.goymca.com; or call Sean Cassidy 401.727.7900 or email scassidy@ymcapawt.org.
