Rhode Island Medical Imaging will be well represented at the 98th Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America meeting in Chicago. This meeting occurs annually in November and is the largest radiology meeting in the United States, with an expected attendance of over 59,000 physicians and exhibitors from across the globe.
Eighteen radiologists at Rhode Island Medical Imaging will present scientific data or partake in panel discussions, which is a testament to the leadership of RIMI radiologists at the local and national levels. Rhode Island Medical Imaging is considered to be one of the premier radiology practices on the east coast, and one of the largest practices in the country.
“Having the opportunity to present our scientific findings to a worldwide audience such as the RSNA is something we look forward to as leaders in our field,” confirms John Cronan, MD, Chief of Radiology at Rhode Island Hospital and member of the Rhode Island Medical Imaging Board of Directors. “RIMI has been very supportive of our academic and scientific interests. The ability to participate in leading edge science in the field of radiology only makes us a better radiology group.”
An area of great interest and of growth for RIMI has been women’s imaging, which is a well-covered topic at the RSNA. Ana Lourenco, MD, will be presenting many lectures on women’s imaging, including the latest on mammography and pelvic imaging. According to Dr. Lourenco, “There continues to be active research in the area of mammography to confirm screening guidelines (annual starting at age 40). This has been a hot topic in the media, and I am pleased to contribute to this research so we can provide our patients with the most current information.”
RIMI radiologists hold faculty positions at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and subspecialize in all areas of medical imaging, including women’s imaging; bone, joint and muscle imaging; neurology; cardiology; and pediatrics. Furthermore, RIMI radiologists are on staff at Rhode Island Hospital, Women & Infants, Hasbro Children’s Hospital and The Miriam Hospital.
