Barrington, RI – July 17, 2013
OceanPoint Insurance Agency recently donated $3,500 to the Natalie Swift Foundation by organizing a social media campaign to help the family of Natalie Swift, who was stricken with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
For every new “like” OceanPoint received to its Facebook page, the agency donated $5 to The Natalie Swift Foundation. In just a few days, the agency received over 500 likes, and the support continued with more likes over the next few days. The goal of the campaign was to help provide the Swift family with resources that they will need to face the challenges ahead.
“The outpouring of support was overwhelming,” said Doug Mayew, president of OceanPoint Insurance Agency. “This donation would not have been possible without the support of our friends and neighbors. This demonstration of caring and compassion reaffirms how proud I am to be part of this great community.”
Natalie (Baron) Swift and her husband Neil have been married for 16 years and have six children ranging in ages from three to thirteen. Natalie was born and raised in Bristol and now resides in Warren, RI. She is a stay-at-home Mom and is also studying nursing at Salve Regina University. Neil works construction, as well as running the family business, Swift Results Golf Center in Warren. Natalie has endured a long road with medical tests that began in September of 2011 and finally ended almost a year later, when she was diagnosed with ALS.
