Newport Athletic Club Releases Findings of Fitness Study
Nearly 75% of Participants Felt an Improved Feeling of Well-Being
NEWPORT, RI (July 14, 2016) – Newport Athletic Club (NAC) has released the findings of its community fitness study conducted from April 25th – May 18th. All participants received a complimentary one-month membership with full club access; 6 small group personal training sessions; as well as pre and post fitness assessments. Of the 50 people who registered for the complimentary program, 88% successfully completed the study.
The Spring 2016 NAC Effects of Exercise Fitness Study was designed to introduce community members, who want to start a fitness routine but have apprehensions about how to take that first step, to the basics of proper exercise and nutrition.
For the duration of the study, each participant averaged 11.5 visits and more than 70% reported feeling ‘Motivated’ after 3-weeks of exercise. Additionally, nearly three-quarters (72%) felt an ‘improved general feeling of well-being’; over two-thirds (67%) stated they experienced ‘increased energy’; and 49% felt more ‘Energized.’
“We are so pleased that we were able to offer our community this unique fitness experience,” said Kevin Buck, Partner and General Manager of NAC. “Not only does this study help inspire our neighbors to live a healthier lifestyle, but it also educates our staff on the specific barriers that might be preventing someone from starting an exercise program.”
In addition to the exercise component, the study also focused on the importance of proper nutrition. To that end, more than 60% of participants reported that they modified their eating habits during the study. At the conclusion of the program, 74% of participants stated that they would continue a regular exercise program.
