Part of the YMCA of Pawtucket Association

LINCOLN, R.I. (June 1, 2020) – The MacColl YMCA is pleased to announce that they are the first YMCA branch in the State of Rhode Island to officially reopen today, June 1st. Since its closure in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the MacColl Y staff has been diligently cleaning and renovating to accommodate the new state and CDC guidelines.

To fulfill their mission of supporting healthy living, the Y remain engaged with vulnerable populations throughout the pandemic. Staff members delivered food and critical supplies to those that needed it most, and continued to offer online classes, educational games, books and more to community members.

The number one priority for reopening the first YMCA branch in the state is to do so slowly and safely. Welcome Centers and Outdoor Group Exercise will be the first to open, with Pool Lap Time available in the second or third week.

All branches will have enhanced safety and cleaning protocols and will feature ample signage to ensure proper social distancing. Additionally, members will have to pass a health screen before entering the building and wear a mask when in the building.
