Smithfield, R.I. – John J. Tassoni Jr., President of The Sentinel Media Group, announced his company will issue its final broadcast of its acclaimed radio shows on June 28, 2021. Tassoni started the Common Ground media outlets eleven years ago to provide an outlet for organized unions to have a media voice. After issuing a print edition every month for twelve years, he branched off to radio and hosted an hour show every Monday on AM 790 WPRV for the past eleven years.

The show included union, civic and business leaders with the goal of delivering a common ground point of view to everyone in Rhode Island. It was during this environment that Tassoni launched his second show, Recovery Radio, after discovering the number of workers and everyday Rhode Islanders suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.

Recovery Radio, which won a national award from the mental health community, will also end a five-year run-on AM 790 WPRV. Common Ground newspaper will continue to run and will continue to shed light on recovery and addiction issues.

“It is bittersweet to end my radio career after 11 years, but it is time to move on and let someone else take on the mantle,” Tassoni stated. “I want to thank my listeners and sponsors, because it would not have been possible to bring these important issues to light without them. I look forward to continuing the mission with the print edition of Common Ground.”
