PAWTUCKET, R.I. (January 26, 2021) — As part of its longstanding commitment to help the community it serves, Butler & Messier Insurance (BMI) has donated $750 each to help support the Doorways Food Pantry of Seekonk and the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen. The Arbella Insurance Foundation has matched both of Butler & Messier’s donations with their Let’s Drive Out Hunger campaign, totaling $1,500 donated to each non-profit.
The donation came from Butler & Messier’s quarterly Casual for a Cause campaign, in which its employees donate $5 to dress casually on Fridays. At the end of the quarter, Butler & Messier matches the donation to help a non-profit that is having a positive impact in the community.
“We are proud of our employees who share our commitment to support local organizations that are making a real difference in our community,” said Roger Messier, president of Butler & Messier Insurance. “We are honored to support the great work of Doorways Food Pantry of Seekonk as well as the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen and to help eliminate hunger in our state.”
This is the Arbella Insurance Foundation’s 13th consecutive year matching eligible donations to food pantries, food banks, and homeless shelters. Since 2008, the Let’s Drive Out Hunger campaign has given more than $1.38 million to hundreds of food pantries throughout communities in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Maine.
Doorways Food Pantry of Seekonk and the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen are non-profit organizations, serving the homeless and low-income populations in Seekonk and Pawtucket. The Doorways Food Pantry of Seekonk was first established in 2001, serving 55 families each week and has given out over 1.3 million pounds of food. The Pawtucket Soup Kitchen was established in 1992 and served more than 64,500 meals in 2020.
Butler & Messier Insurance plans to make donations to other Rhode Island organizations for the remaining quarters.
