NEWPORT, RI (September 18, 2017) – The Mission of the Newport County Development Council is to assist the Newport County Chamber of Commerce in identifying, developing, operating, funding and supporting projects that stimulate commerce and trade in Newport County, Rhode Island. To carry out this mission, the Community Fund was established to recognize the critical role our non-profit members play building and sustaining a healthy community. Each year, the fund awards charitable contributions to outstanding non-profit members.

Newport County Development Council grants are limited to non-profit organizations that have been a member in good standing with the Newport County Chamber of Commerce for at least one year. It is recommended that you read our Community Fund Application Guidelines in its entirety before beginning the submission process. Applications must be received at the Newport County Chamber by close of business on October 6th, 2017.  Notification of grant recipients will be sent on or before October 20th. Grants will be awarded at the Newport County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Cocktail Celebration on November 3rd at Rosecliff in Newport, RI.

Last year’s recipients were The Samaritans of Rhode Island, Lucy’s Hearth and The Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island.

In order to apply for the grant, a Newport County Development Council Community Fund Application Form must be completed and submitted. This form is available to members through the Chamber website at http://www.newportchamber.com/events. Only completed applications will be considered; incomplete applications will not be reviewed. There are no provisions for presentations to the Committee. Applicants are asked to include the purpose of the funding and how it will benefit the organization and the community. As well as descriptions of  the organization’s mission, history and accomplishments. A copy of the organization’s IRS Determination Letter of Tax-Exempt Status under section 501(c) (3) is also required.
