CODAC Working to Ensure Continuity for Patients and Staff

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (February 8, 2020) — CODAC Behavioral Healthcare is announcing that due to changing needs for physical space at the State Hospital, CODAC’s Center of Excellence (COE) at Eleanor Slater will be ceasing operation and outpatient services on Friday, March 5th, 2021. We would like to recognize and thank the Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH) for accommodating us with space at the Pastore Campus. After being informed of their need for repurposing, we have started making preparations for our patients, staff and programs at the Eleanor Slater location.

CODAC is working to avoid any disruption of care to our patients as well as employment of our staff. Although this change has come at a difficult time, CODAC leadership and staff remain positive. “We always look for silver linings, and, in this case, it has given Eleanor Slater staff an opportunity to explore new possibilities and roles,” said Linda Hurley, President & CEO of CODAC Behavioral Healthcare.

Our providers will continue to work with their patients to ensure a smooth continuity of care, and more information will be provided in the coming weeks.

As this transition is underway, we will continue to serve our patients with courtesy and dignity, and will remain focused on our founding principles and devout commitment to ensuring that compassionate care is available for each of our patients, communities and associates – especially during times of need. We are exploring additional ways that we can support our community’s needs moving forward.

For any questions regarding closure of Eleanor Slater, please contact Becky Boss (Rboss@codacinc.org).
