Discussion to Focus on Five Statewide Bond Questions
NEWPORT, RI (October 12, 2016) – The Newport County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Roger Williams University, invites the public to a Forum on the Economic Impact of the five bond questions. The event will take place on November 2nd, from 6pm – 8pm at Roger Williams University, School of Law Building (Moot Courtroom, Law 283 2nd floor Atrium; One Old Ferry Road, Bristol, RI).
Introductions will be provided by Dr. Donald J. Farish, President of Roger Williams University, and the forum will be moderated by Professor June Speakman of the Political Science Department. The questions to be discussed include:
QUESTION 3 supports issuing $27,000,000 in general obligation bonds to construct a new Veterans Home and maintain existing facilities.
QUESTION 4 supports issuing $45,500,000 in general obligation bonds to invest in higher education related projects at the University of Rhode Island.
QUESTION 5 supports issuing $70,000,000 in general obligation bonds to fund port infrastructure projects.
QUESTION 6 supports issuing $35,000,000 in general obligation bonds for environmental and recreational purposes.
QUESTION 7 supports issuing $50,000,000 in general obligation bonds to fund affordable housing and urban revitalization.
