Installation Ceremony To Take Place at 2017 Annual Meeting


NEWPORT, RI (April 6, 2017) – The Newport County Chamber of Commerce will host its 2017 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 26th from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at picturesque OceanCliff (65 Ridge Road, Newport).

Sponsored by Savings Institute Bank & Trust, this year’s Annual Meeting will feature a presentation from Scott Gibbs, President of the Economic Development Foundation of Rhode Island, on the Innovate Newport at Sheffield School project, and will also recognize the 2017 Excellence in Business award winners. Additionally, the Chamber will also announce its Board of Directors’ Slate of Officers and Candidates for the 2017-2018 year.

The following candidates have been put forth by the Nominating Committee and approved by the 2016-2017 Board of Directors: Officers; Peter Wilbur, Roger Williams University (Chairperson); Amy Martel, People’s Credit Union (Vice-Chair); John Edick, Blackstone Catering (Secretary); Bonnie Gomes, 3G Broadcasting (Treasurer); Glenn Almquist, Woodard & Curran (Chair Ex Officio).

The Chamber will welcome new Board Members: Terri Cortvriend, Ocean Link, Inc.; Jason Hill, Systems Engineering Associates Corp.; Milton Baxter, Waldorf Capital; and Kristin MacMannis, U.S. Trust Bank of American Private Wealth Management. Returning Board Members include: Rick Hodges, Hodges Badge Company, Inc.; Keith Tavares, Child & Family; and Jairo Rugel, Newport County Computers.
