Brian_SchafferCranston, RI (July 31, 2015) – Alpine Country Club has announced that Brian Schaffer has been promoted to director of golf. In this position, Schaffer will manage operations of the golf department, the golf shop and all retail initiatives. He will also oversee instruction, teaching individual lessons and clinics and will manage all golf staff, member events and outside tournaments. Previously at Alpine, Schaffer served as the interim head golf professional and the associate golf professional.

Schaffer has over 13-years of experience in the golf industry and has been working for Troon, the world’s leading third-party club management company, for four years. He was elected a Class A Professional by PGA of America in May 2008.

“Brian brings a wealth of knowledge with him from the variety of positions he has held at prestigious golf courses across the country,” said Jeff Beier, general manager at Alpine Country Club. “He has first-hand experience and the knowledge required to properly manage all aspects of the club’s golf operations.”

Prior to his time at Alpine, Schaffer served as the associate golf professional assisting with golf operations and instruction at BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, CA, and most recently at The Gallery Golf Club in Marana, AZ.

Schaffer graduated Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC, with a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in professional golf management.

Schaffer’s tournament play includes placing second at the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) Foundation Pro-am; tying for fourth in the Pro Series #4 in 2013; tying for twenty-second at the Northern California PGA (NCPGA) Assistant Championship in 2012; placing eleventh in the TaylorMade Tour Preferred Classic in 2012, and tying for thirtieth at the NCPGA Professional Championship in 2012.
